On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, four calling birds.
For 12 days of Christmas, someone’s true love brought them a unique gift everyday, For the last four days, someone – an anonymous person has dropped a special gift in a stocking on my doorstep.
Each gift was to relate to the verse of the song. In addition to the gifts were notes – including notes that contained scripture and stories.
My heart has been full of anticipation, of hope and giddy at times – wondering what will happen next. I giggle because I see that as what God wants us to be and feel daily as we journey with him. (Maybe not giddy, but at least hopeful)
Tonight, it was four pens and a journal. The notes were simple. All the calling birds have flown away. They’re visiting the south to see the view. Instead a call, they left a notepad and pens!
I laughed in delight.
The notes went on – the four calling birds are reminders of the four Gospel writers – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These writers of the first four books of the New Testament proclaimed the testimony of Jesus’ life and teaching. Like birds calling out with loud and distinctive voices, Matthew Mark, Luke and John spread abroad the new of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.
Sharing God, sharing His unconditional love, sharing His precious gift He gave us and moving forward through life is what He wants.
Be it through writing, living your daily life, sharing Christmas anonymously by playing ’12 Days of Christmas’ or making someone smile by the ring doorbell.
What a great gift – a journal and four pens.
