Twelve days of Christmas – if your true love really gave you all the gifts each day, you’d have close to 300 or more gifts. What a Christmas that would be!
I have been the delighted and appreciative person to receive gifts from secret Christmas friends. Everyday for the last nine days, these people have left me a gift, a silly note and a note relating the gift to the Christian walk.
On the ninth day of Christmas, my doorbell rang and my dog barked. We opened our door – expecting to see nine ladies dancing.
According to my secret Christmas friends – whomever they may be – and to be honest, I am not sure I want to know – the ballerinas were dancing in the Nutcracker in Tyler this evening, but they sent me a special treat – a pack of six mini Snickers (my favorite candy bar ever) and a Nutcracker (which is funny, because I have been collecting a nutcracker for every Christmas I have been back in Texas. 2016 makes for the fourth Christmas and this nutcracker makes number four).
On the ‘serious note,’ I read, ” On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me – nine ladies dancing. The nine ladies remind us of the nine different ‘fruits’ that the Holy Spirit produces in the lives of God’s children. Just as the ladies dance joyfully, so can every Christian rejoice over the life-changing fruit of the Holy Spirit. Gifts like love and joy and peace are worthy of great celebration.” Read Galations 5:22-23
As I looked at the Christmas gifts that I have received – all lined up near my tree, except for the Turtle candy (The turtles needed saving … hahaha) and two of the breakfast bars. Every thing was something I needed or could use – and there are a few treats that I would never buy myself.
This Christmas friends didn’t know any of that.
Mmmm. God hears us. God knows. God puts people – even people we don’t know – in our path to help us. Lesson Learned: Kick pride in the rear and out the door. Accept God’s help in whatever way it comes and say thank you.
